The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea does not run collections on the Tuesday following the Notting Hill Carnival, and the border streets get busy around it. Here is how to plan a clearance that fits the calendar.
Quick answers
If you are searching for notting hill carnival waste collection kensington, this guide is written around Kensington, W8, London and focuses on the access, timing, and pricing details that usually decide whether a job is simple or awkward.
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea states that there is no collection on the Tuesday following the Notting Hill Carnival, in addition to the usual closures on Sundays and bank holidays. The reason is practical: the area is still recovering from a very large street event.
For residents and landlords on the Kensington side of the border, that single missing day can shift a clearance by nearly a week if it is not planned for.
The carnival is a Notting Hill event, but Kensington shares its border, and the surrounding roads carry a lot of the traffic and disruption. Vans, crowds and road changes all affect how easily a crew can reach a property during the period.
Our own advice is simple. If your clearance can happen before the carnival weekend, do it then. If it has to happen after, expect the first quiet working days on the far side of the event.
If you have booked a council bulky collection and it lands awkwardly around the carnival, check the timing against the council's own calendar. With the Tuesday out of action, and the weekend already closed, the nearest available day can be further away than you expect.
Because the council's bulky fee is non-refundable, a booking that falls on a paused day is best caught early. Changes and cancellations have to be made by twelve o'clock midday on the last working day before collection.
A private clearance is not bound to the council's collection calendar, so it can work on the days the council cannot. That said, we still plan around the event itself, because access and traffic are what they are.
We often bring carnival-week jobs forward, or schedule them for the calm mornings on either side, and we confirm parking and access with you in advance so the van is not fighting the crowds.
Frequently asked questions
No. The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea does not collect on the Tuesday following the Notting Hill Carnival, on top of the usual closures on Sundays and bank holidays.
If it is possible, booking before the carnival weekend avoids the disruption altogether. If it must be after, plan for the quiet working days on the far side of the event and confirm access in advance.
A private clearance is not tied to the council's collection calendar and can work on days the council does not, though we still plan around the event for access and traffic.
